鎌倉原住民。早稲田大学卒業後、東宝に入社。東宝とプロデュース契約を結び、13本の劇映画をプロデュースした。代表作は『狙撃』（1968）、『赤頭巾ちゃん気をつけて』（1970）、『化石の森』（1973）、『雨のアムステルダム』（1975）、『はつ恋』（1975）。独立後、フジテレビ／学研製作の『南極物語』（1983）のチーフプロデューサー。この時の飛行距離は地球を６周半。音楽監督を依頼したヴァンゲリスとの親交が深く、同映画のサウンドトラック『Antarctica』は全世界的なヒットとなった。94年にはシドニーで開催したアジア映画祭の審査委員をつとめる。『ボーン・コレクター』のフィリップ・ノリス監督、『ハムナプトラ』の女優レイチェル・ワイズとの親交を深める。カナダとの合作映画『Hiroshima』でのアソシエート・プロデューサー。アンプの自作から始まったオーディオ歴は50年以上。映画製作の経験を活かしたビデオの論評は、家庭における映画鑑賞の独自の視点を確立した。自称・美文家。ナイーヴな語り口をモットーとしている。
After graduating from Waseda University, he took an active part as a movie producer in Toho Co., Ltd. , and produced big 13-story films. After he set up as a free-lance, he made a great success on the film "Antarctica" at 1983 as a chief producer. He has a good friendship with musician Vangelis, composed the soundtrack of the film which had a worldwide success. His knowledge of about 50 years over audio and visual products is amazingly deep. He established his unique point of view on the Home-Video entertainment, which he fostered for years by his experience as an movie producer. As a critic, he is well known by his elegant writing. |
